Dandelion Wine Post

The first story of  Dandelion Wine by Ray Bradbury is about an old woman named Mrs. Bentely who tries to convince three children that she was once young. What I liked about this story is that as it goes into more depth, we found out more about her past and her losses or gains. We also come to find out that Mrs. Bentley had a hard time moving on from the death of her husband. Another element I liked about this short story is that it uses the ghost of her husband and makes it seem real to her. I love how the author uses her loss of a husband to gain more wisdom, telling her that all of those things that she has aren't hers anymore because they are things of the past, of what used to be. I liked the message he created in this story which was, don't hold onto things from the past for it will hinder you in the future.

The second story of Dandelion Wine by Ray Bradbury is about when Douglas finds out that the trolley was being shut down. I liked the message in that story which I thought was that all good things come to a sudden end. This is shown when Douglas says, "Don't make the same kind of noise. Don't have tracks or wires, don't throw sparks, don't pour sand on the tracks, don't have the same colors, don't have a bell, don't let down a step like a trolley does!" This shows that Douglas hated the fact that the trolley was being taken away, shortly after the Green Machine was shut down. I thought of the story as a heartwarmer but also as a reminder that things end, but good things end much sooner.

Favorite Genres

My favorite genres are Mysteries and Thrillers and Fantasy. There are many reasons why these are my favorite. For Mysteries and Thrillers, I love the suspense it gives me when I'm reading those stories at 4:00 in the morning while drink cold hot cocoa. For Fantasy, I love how they use the magical element. For example, Harry Potter with the phoenix that dies but comes back to life. It uses mythical creatures that I can grow attached to.

Writing Tips Assignment

The top 10 rules that made sense to me was the one that said, "Writing doesn't love you. It doesn't care. Nevertheless, it can behave with remarkable generosity. Speak well of it, encourage others, pass it on."  The reason why it made sense because I commit to that rule more than any other of the rules. I think my writing isn't bad, but it could always improve. I would accept criticism but not in a demeaning way. I practice the rule that was mentioned earlier on and I also practice the rule for getting rid of words you don't need.

Uniqueness

I feel passionate about uniqueness! Everyone has the right to be unique. Take me for example, I am a person who loves to deceive others into getting what I want. Although that may not be the best way to be unique, it's a way. Of course, there are other ways to being unique. You could have different interests than someone else. That's the simplest ways, my darlings. You know what I would when people tell me when they say I'm weird? I would say, "Grell is weird as well, but he's well-loved!" It is very much true my darlings. Anywho, I just want to say that being unique is not bad and if you're teamed up with other people, it turns into an advantage.

My First Post

Hello, my darlings! I'm Alquasia Maye, but others call me Grell because of my love for the color red and for my love my dearest bassy! If you don't know who that is, that is Sebastian Michaelis! I am a student at School Of The Arts! I hope I can please you with my posts! Au revoir!
